Disc degeneration

-Diagnosed only by MRI.
-Normally, disc appears hyper intense and homogenous in T2 WI.
-In case of degeneration, there will be decrease in hyper density seen due to loss of water.
-Loss of height of the disc.
So we can conclude that in case of disc degeneration, there will be the following criteria

1-Loss of height of the disc.

2-Loss of the normal hyper intensity of the disc.

-Disc degeneration can be diagnosed by CT which leads to

1-Loss of height of the disc.

2-Vacuum phenomena.

3-Disc calcification.
