Ventriculitis

1-The most common cause is infection of shunt tube.
2-Less commonly from rupture of a brain abscess in the ventricles.
3-Uncommon but serious.
4-Causing choroid plexitis---resulting in enlargement and enhancement of the choroid plexus.
5-It can spread to form other causes of brain infection including brain abscess.
6-It may extends to the peri ventricular area causing peri ventricular infection of the surrounding brain tissue resulting in a very serious condition ends by death of the patient.
