Fungal infection

1-Fungus affect the human body due to immune-suppression.
2-Types of fungus:
-Aspergillosis.
-Candidiasis.
-Cryptococcosis.
-Mucomycosis.
3-Is similar to TB in its effects.
4-In case of fungal encephalitis and in T2 image, there is characteristic appearance where fungal infection appears of low intensity.
5-In case of cysticercosis, it causes multiple calcified foci and it is one of the differential diagnosis of peri ventricular calcification. It causes very aggressive type of edema surrounding the lesion, finally after treatment it causes intra cranial calcification.
6-Characteristic appearance of cysticercosis is when you see a cyst contained inside it a nodule(scolex).
7-If you see the previous appearance(cyst with dot sign) you can diagnose cysticercosis.
But if you see enhancement of meninges, you diagnose meningitis.
And if you see a ring enhancement, you diagnose brain abscess.
8-The best MRI sequence to see cysticercosis is T1 sequence(can easly demonstrate the nodule).
