Shunt complication

1-Malfunction suggested by progressive ventricular dilatation with worse symptoms after application of the tube.

2-Shunt infection  shows enhancement of the ventricular wall in a markedly dilated ventricles suggesting ventriculitis.

3-Sub dural hematoma due to sudden decompression of the ventricles.

4-Slit ventricle syndrome means that the ventricles are markedly collapsed instead of persistence of symptoms of hydrocephalus.
When you write in your report that the condition is slit ventricle syndrome when the ventricles are collapsed while the patient is still complaining, this will occurs in chronic cases with  shunt where ventricular walls can not be dilated in response to a new hydrocephalus due to fibrosis.
