-Ligament pathology consists of :
1-Hypertrophy.
2-Calcification is only seen by CT.
-We have two ligaments to deal with
1-Ligamenta flava.
You must mentioned in the report if it is hypertrophied or not.
If it is hypertrophied, you should mention the level.
2-Posterior longitudinal ligament.
Ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament (OPLL) is seen well in T2 as the ossified ligament is black while the CSF is white.
In CT you differentiate well between OPLL and osteophytes as OPLL has a mushroom appearance with narrow base and wide apex while osteophyte has a wide base and narrow apex.
